Give procurement a one-pager
Use this play when procurement or finance asks for a short written justification. You generate a One Pager or an Executive Briefing from the deal's value model, keep only the drivers that matter, freeze it and export it.
Before you start. The deal needs a value model and, ideally, variables the customer has confirmed. Exporting a story as PPTX or PDF draws credits.
The situation
The champion is on board and procurement has asked for "something short we can put in the file". They care about price, terms and vendor risk, and they will compare you against benchmarks. A full deck is the wrong artefact.
Why it matters
Procurement reads the number, the top drivers and where the inputs came from. The One Pager and the Executive Briefing are built from the same value model as the Sales Deck, so the figures match what the champion and the economic buyer have already seen. Locking and exporting freezes exactly what procurement saw, so "where did this number come from" has an answer later.
Steps in valueIQ
- Pick the template. Deal → Value Stories panel → + New Value Story. Choose One Pager for a single page with the top drivers and a direct call to action, with no derivation detail. Choose Executive Briefing when procurement or finance wants the methodology spelled out: attribution estimates and realisation rates, in a denser financial register.
- Choose the top drivers. Deal page → Model Insights panel → tornado chart, ordered by impact. Then in the story: controls menu → Box configuration. Turn off the driver boxes you do not want on the page. The value model underneath is untouched.
- Check the chart shapes. Each driver box has a chart picker. Before/after rates use column, dumbbell or gauge; share-of-spend uses ring or donut; probability × impact uses a 10×10 risk matrix. Pick the one that reads fastest. The choice persists per story.
- Set the reading to confirmed. Controls menu → Review before presenting…. Set the default reading to
confirmedso every number beside a confirmed badge is the one the customer agreed. - Lock for presentation. Controls menu → Lock for presentation. Seller-side edits freeze for 4 hours, or until you release the lock. Customer-partner variable edits stay live.
- Export. Controls menu → Download for PPTX or PDF. Each download costs 30 credits and creates a value-locked snapshot of the variables behind that file, so what procurement saw stays reconstructable as the live story evolves. If they prefer a link, share the public link: viewers need no account and see no seller-only content.
Tip. With the MCP Server connected: "Build the deck for tomorrow's meeting." This creates the story on the deal and starts generation. Exporting it draws credits.
What to say
In the cover note:
"Attached is a one-page summary of the business case. The headline number is [expected value] against a price of [price]. The three drivers behind it are [driver 1], [driver 2] and [driver 3]. The inputs marked confirmed came from [champion's team]; the rest are market estimates, and we are happy to walk through the sources."
What good looks like
- One page with the top drivers only, and nothing procurement has to scroll past.
- The provenance of each input is visible on the story.
- The exported file matches a value-locked version you can open later.
- Procurement's questions are about terms rather than about whether the number is real.
