Market variants

Market variants, refresh market data and export product package are in beta. They give one product a separate value model for each market it serves, keep market benchmarks current across your deals, and bundle a model for use outside valueIQ. These features are available to users with beta access when the workspace is in beta mode.

Switch the workspace to beta mode from the workspace switcher in the top-left header. If you do not see the Product Studio actions described here, your account does not have beta access yet.

Why variants exist

A single product often serves materially different markets, for example Healthcare, Commercial and Government. One averaged model fits none of them well, and duplicating models by hand drifts out of sync. A variant is a fully independent value model that shares the same root company and product context but has its own drivers, its own market values and its own market category tag.

Create a market variant

  1. Open the product page.
  2. Open the Product Studio actions menu and choose Create Market Variant. The New Variant button on the product page does the same thing.
  3. Name the market. valueIQ runs the full research, model generation and market variables chain again for that segment.

When you create a deal on a product that has variants, you pick the right one for the prospect. valueIQ may recommend one based on what it learns about the prospect.

Shared variables converge across variants rather than drifting: the Aligned Models subsystem, now generally available, feeds prior estimates from sibling models into the market variables workflow when a new variant is built.

Refresh market data

Product Studio actions menu, Refresh Market Data. This re-runs the market research end to end and cascades the updated values to all non-archived deals that can be estimated (those with a customer website or a company name). Use it when benchmarks have moved or when you have added documents that should inform the estimates.

Editing a single market estimate on the product page cascades in the same way without a full re-run, so reserve a refresh for when the whole benchmark set needs revisiting.

Export a product package

Product Studio actions menu, Export Product Package. This downloads the value model, its market data and the context documents as a single JSON bundle for use in external pricing workflows.
