Presentation lock, versions, and export
A value story renders live against the deal, which is what you want while you are building it and not always what you want while you are presenting it. This page covers locking a story for a meeting, going back to an earlier version, downloading a copy, and the notifications that tell you when a background workflow has finished.
Before you start. All three story controls live in the story's controls menu. Open the value story from the Value Stories panel on the deal.
Lock a story for presentation
Controls menu → Lock for presentation. The lock freezes seller-side edits for four hours, or until you release it manually. Nobody on your team can regenerate a box, change a chart, or edit a variable while it holds, so the story you rehearsed is the story on screen.
The lock applies to sellers only. A customer partner can still correct their own variables in the story throughout, and those edits apply live. If the customer changes a number in the meeting, the business case reflects it.
Version history and restore
Every change to a story writes a new version with a change log: a regeneration, a box turned on or off, a chart type change, a branding update, a variable edit. To see the history or go back, use the controls menu → Version history and pick any prior version.
Because the log records what changed and when, you can answer "why did this number move since last week" without guessing, and restore the earlier version if the change was a mistake.
Controls menu → Download. A download costs 30 credits and gives you the story as a PowerPoint or PDF file.
Each download also creates a value-locked version: a frozen snapshot of the variable values behind that specific file. The live story keeps evolving as the deal does, but the snapshot means you can always reconstruct exactly what the customer saw in the file you sent them.
Tip. Download after the pre-presentation review, with the story set to confirmed values. The file and its value-locked snapshot then carry only numbers the customer has stood behind.
Workflow completion notifications
Value model and deal-analysis workflows run in the background, typically for 15 to 20 minutes. You do not have to wait on the page.
- Completion modal. When a workflow finishes, a modal names the product, the number of drivers, the market category, and the top three drivers, with Open Value Model and Start a Deal buttons. If several workflows finish close together, the modals queue rather than stack on top of each other.
- Banner and toasts. A dismissible banner and toast notifications name the specific product and driver count and link straight to the relevant section.
- Completion email. When market variables are ready, an email names the product, the market category, and the top value drivers, and links to the product page.
