Sharing with the buyer
A business case the buyer helped build is harder to discount than one they were handed. valueIQ gives you two ways to share a value story: invite a customer partner who can correct their own numbers inside it, or send a public link that anyone can read without an account. This page covers both, and what the customer can and cannot change.
Before you start. Open the value story you want to share. Check the template first: the Discovery Guide is internal prep material and is never shown to the buyer.
The three roles
- Seller or teammate. Full edit rights: regenerate, configure boxes, manage branding, manage versions, lock for presentation.
- Customer partner. Invited by email. Sees the buyer-facing story and can correct their own input variables in the driver detail view.
- Viewer. Read-only access through a public shareable link. No account needed.
Invite a customer partner
- Open the Share dialog. On the value story, click Share.
- Enter the customer's email and click Send invite. valueIQ asks you to confirm before it records the invitation as sent.
- The customer receives a one-click sign-in link. If their company's email security opens links before they do and burns the link, a six-digit one-time code is the fallback, so the invite still works.
Invitation rows exist only from the moment you send. Opening the dialog and closing it again leaves nothing behind. The first time you use the dialog, an in-place walkthrough steps you through the resend and handoff sequence.
Manage pending invites
Each invite appears as a row in the Share dialog.
- Resend. Sends the invite again to a customer who has not yet claimed it. Once the invite is claimed, resend is no longer offered.
- Send all. Sends every pending invite in one action.
- Delete. Removes a pending invite. Available only while the invite is unclaimed, and valueIQ asks you to confirm.
- Compose in mail app. Opens a sendable draft in your own mail client instead of sending from valueIQ. A first invitation uses the fresh-invite template; only a true resend to someone you have already invited uses the follow-up template.
The dialog updates in real time when a customer partner accepts. You do not need to close and reopen it to see the change.
What the customer can edit
A customer partner can open any driver and replace an input variable with their own figure, for example swapping a market-benchmark cost estimate for their actual cost. The edit applies to the story live, and valueIQ never overwrites it when you regenerate.
Their edits are recorded as explorations rather than confirmations, and each edited variable shows a customer-explored badge. To turn an exploration into a confirmed value, the customer clicks Confirm value on the variable, which records an authenticated customer confirmation. See Value confirmation for how to read the badges and review current against confirmed values before you present.
Public links
A public shareable link gives read-only access with no account. The shared view is self-contained: it carries the correct branding, shows no seller-only content, and every reference in it resolves. Customer partners and anonymous viewers see the same rendering.
Story branding, the logo and palette, is inherited from earlier stories for the same customer domain, or from the workspace's saved brand defaults. You can edit it on the story and save it back for the next one.
Tip. Use the Co-Session Discovery Guide with a customer partner when you want confirmations, and the public link when you want reach. A confirmed variable from the customer's own champion carries more weight with the economic buyer than any benchmark.
