Members and roles
A workspace holds a team's value models, deals and coaching threads in one place. Team workspaces are in beta: with beta access, you can invite colleagues by email, give each one a role and work the same deals together. This page covers switching workspaces, inviting members, the four roles and what a seat costs.
Beta. Team workspaces are available to users with beta access. If you have it, the workspace switcher and the Members tab appear in Workspace Settings.
Personal and shared workspaces
When you sign up you get a personal workspace, where you are the Owner. To work as a team, create a shared workspace and invite members into it. Most users therefore belong to at least two workspaces.
Plan, credit balance and value models are all scoped to a workspace. When you switch, all three change with it. A credit balance only makes sense once you know which workspace it belongs to.
Switch workspaces
- Click the workspace name in the top-left header.
- Pick a workspace from the dropdown. The active workspace controls every list you see: deals, products and business cases.
Confirm the active workspace before you create or edit anything.
Invite a teammate
- Open Workspace Settings, next to the workspace switcher.
- Go to the Members tab.
- Invite by email and assign a role: Owner, Admin, Member or Viewer.
Workspace admins can see the delivery status of invitation emails. New members get a welcome dialog with guidance matched to their experience level.
The four roles
Roles run in a hierarchy: Owner, then Admin, then Member, then Viewer. Each person's role belongs to them in that workspace, not to them as a user, so the same person can be Owner of their personal workspace and a Member of the team's.
| Role | What the sources say it covers |
|---|---|
| Owner | Workspace settings, billing and seat management. |
| Admin | User invitations, role assignment and member management. Admins also see a Team view toggle in Pipeline. |
| Member | Works deals and products in the workspace. |
| Viewer | The most limited role in the hierarchy. |
Deals carry their own access control on top of workspace roles: a deal has an owner, members and read-only access.
Working together on a deal
Members of a workspace share value models, deals and copilot context. Several people can work the same deal, and the Deal Copilot thread is shared between them. Activity notifications appear in real time when a colleague creates a product or updates a deal.
In Pipeline, admins can switch on Team view to include other members' deals alongside their own.
Seats and credits
Credits are pooled at the workspace level, not per user. The first member of a workspace is free. Each additional active member costs 1,000 credits a month, charged from the workspace pool for as long as the seat is active. Plan for this when you roll valueIQ out to a team.
